Call of Abram Genesis 12 and 13
There was a man, a descendent of Noah, named Abram. Abram's wife was named Sarai. They were unable to have children.
God told Abram to leave his home land, Ur, in Mesopotamia, to go to the place where God would direct him to. God was going to bless him and a great nation would come from him. So, Abram and Sarai, along with Abram's nephew, Lot, went away on a journey that would take them to a place that they had never been before. They believed God would take care of them, and they trusted in Him. The land that they went to, was the land that God would give to Abram and his descendants.
God had now divided the world into nations, something that had not happened before. He favored a particular nation. Abram would be the Father of this nation, even though he had no children up to this point. We will see later how God blessed Abram and Sarai when they lived in this new land.
