Enoch and Methuselah Genesis 5:21-32
After the murder of Abel, by his brother Cain, Adam and Eve had another son. They named him 'Seth'. Seth was faithful to the Lord his God and his descendants also followed after the Lord. Enoch was the seventh generation from Adam through Seth's line. Enoch was a great example of godliness and the Bible says that He walked with God. Enoch was not perfect or without sin, but he was faithful to God all the days of his life. The Lord was pleased with Enoch, and He did not let Enoch see death, but took him away to heaven one day.
Enoch was the seventh generation from Adam through Seth's line and Lamech was the seventh generation from Adam, through Cain's line. Enoch's line through Seth was made up of people who were righteous and faithful to God, whereas Lamech's line through Cain was made up of people who were wicked and rebellious toward God. The number seven in the Bible represents completeness many times.
Enoch had a son named Methuselah. Methuselah lived longer than any other person recorded in the Bible. It was not unusual for people to live two or three hundred years, but Methuselah beat them all by living to be 969 years. He was the grandfather of Noah, who built the ark because God was going to judge the world by sending a great deluge. This event is recorded in Genesis 6.
