True History-Veritas Card #2-The Fall in the Garden

The Fall in the Garden from Genesis 3

The Lord told Adam that he could eat of any tree in the garden, but he was not allowed to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. He would 'surely die' if he ate from it. Satan came disguised as a serpent and spoke to Eve and gave her reasons why she should eat from this tree. Satan tricked Eve into eating the fruit and she disobeyed God as she ate it. She gave some of the fruit to Adam and he ate it as well. Satan told her that she would be 'like God' if she ate. He led her to believe that God was not to be trusted. In fact, one of his questions was phrased as 'Did God really say?' That is interesting because today people are still asking that same question.  Satan is putting that question to use today. Are we going to listen to him?
The disobedience of Adam had serious consequences for human beings. Every person who has been born ever since that time has been born in sin. Not only that, but God also cursed the earth. We live in a fallen state now that sin is here. All of us are guilty before God now.
Even though Adam sinned in this way, God promised to send a 'seed' that would crush Satan and his kingdom. That promise was fulfilled when Jesus Christ came to earth, lived a perfect life, and died a terrible death to pay for our sins. This happened 2000 years ago. Jesus was buried and on the third day he arose from the grave. He is alive today. He is the seed that would crush the serpent's head. Now we can be free from sin and live a holy life before a holy God, if we repent of our sin, and trust in Him.
