Sodom and Gomorrah Genesis 18-19
After Abraham and Lot, who was Abraham's nephew, came to the land that God led them to, there were a lot of people between the two groups, so Lot and Abraham went different ways. Lot and his family ended up living in a place called "Sodom". The problem with living in Sodom was that the people were openly sinful and unrepentant. God's judgment was about to come upon the people that lived in this land. In order for Lot and his family to be safe, God warned Lot by means of some angels who told Lot to take his family and flee out of the land.
Abraham was pleading with God to save the cities, if He would find some righteous men who lived there. God found one person who was righteous and that was Lot.
The day came for God to judge the land. Lot took his wife and two daughters out of the land. On the way out, Lot's wife looked back. She must have had a hard time leaving, and because she looked back, she became a pillar of salt! The cities were burning down now and Lot was able to get away.
When God calls us out of sin, we cannot look back. We have to be focused and look forward so that we can keep going in God's direction.
