Isaac and Rebekah Genesis 24
The time period was around 2026 B.C. Isaac was now a grown up man, and Abraham wanted to find a wife for him to have. It would have been a bad thing for Isaac to marry a Canaanite woman, so Abraham sent one of his servants on a journey to see if he could find a wife for Isaac. Abraham sent the servant to a place called Ur, which was the place Abraham used to live! The servant wasn't sure what he would find there, so he prayed and asked God for a sign. He was going to wait at a spring and ask some of the girls to give him some water. If they offered to water his camels, then he would know that this was the sign God would give him to know that this was where the girl would be that would become Isaac's wife. A beautiful girl named Rebekah came out. He then asked her for a drink of water. She offered to give water to his camels also. It looked like God had answered his prayers! Rebekah was actually one of Isaac's cousins. In the olden days, it was not uncommon for cousins to marry each other! The next day, Rebekah left with the servant and later met Isaac and they married.
