The Twelve Tribes of Israel Genesis 29-36, 46-50
God had made a promise to Abraham that he would be the father of many nations, and a great nation would come through one of his descendants. God gave Isaac to Abraham, when Abraham was well advanced in years. This was the son that God was going to use to become a great nation through.
Isaac then fathered two boys, Esau and Jacob. Although Esau was the firstborn son, Jacob was the one who received the birthright. So now we have Abraham, Isaac, and then Jacob, which were known as the Patriarchs.
Jacob became the father of twelve boys. God also changed Jacob's name to Israel. Each one of the sons became a tribe. They were known as the twelve Tribes of Israel. All of those descendants from the twelve tribes were called Israelites and they were God's chosen people. When this group of people obeyed God, they were fully blessed by God, and God took care of them. When they disobeyed God, He punished them. He treated this group of people like His own children.
The time period for this event was around 1860 B.C.

True History - Veritas Card #16 - Famine in Egypt
Famine in Egypt Genesis 41-47
The time period was around 1878 - 1871 B.C. While Joseph was in prison in Egypt, two different people had strange dreams. They looked for someone to interpret their dreams and weren't able to find anyone who could tell the meaning of them. Joseph's name was recommended to be the one to interpret them. He listened to the butler and the baker and interpreted both of their dreams correctly. Joseph developed a reputation for interpreting dreams.
Sometime later, Pharaoh had a couple of dreams. He looked for someone to interpret his dreams, when the butler whose dream Joseph had interpreted a while back, told Pharaoh to get Joseph. He called Joseph from prison and Joseph told the meaning of Pharaoh's dreams to him. God had given Joseph the ability to understand the meaning of the dreams.
The meaning of Pharaoh's dreams indicated that there would be seven years that the land would produce plenty of food, that would be followed by seven years that would be a time of severe famine. After Joseph interpreted the dreams for Pharaoh, Pharaoh placed him second to himself in command of all of Egypt. In order for there to be enough food for all the people to eat, Joseph set up storehouses for grain during the seven years of plenty. This would provide food for the people during the seven years of famine.
Joseph's family was still in Israel, and they were beginning to run out of food. His brothers came to Egypt to buy grain from him, although they did not realize that Joseph was their brother! They did not recognize him and may have assumed he was killed or that they would never see him again. Joseph tested his brothers. He finally told them who he was. I imagine they were in shock!
Pharaoh found out that Joseph's family was now looking to him for their grain. He invited Jacob, Joseph's brothers and all of Jacob's household to live in a town called 'Goshen' which was in Egypt.

Today in History - August 30, B.C. 30 - Cleopatra Commits Suicide
Cleopatra, queen of Egypt and lover of Julius Caesar and Mark Antony, takes her life following the defeat of her forces against Octavian, the future first emperor of Rome.
Cleopatra, born in 69 B.C., was made Cleopatra VII, queen of Egypt, upon the death of her father, Ptolemy XII, in 51 B.C. Her brother was made King Ptolemy XIII at the same time, and the siblings ruled Egypt under the formal title of husband and wife. Cleopatra and Ptolemy were members of the Macedonian dynasty that governed Egypt since the death of Alexander the Great in 323 B.C. Although Cleopatra had no Egyptian blood, she alone in her ruling house learned Egyptian. To further her influence over the Egyptian people, she was also proclaimed the daughter of Re, the Egyptian sun god. Cleopatra soon fell into dispute with her brother, and civil war erupted in 48 B.C.

Joseph as a Slave - Genesis 37-40
Joseph was one of the sons of Jacob, and when he was about seventeen years old, he had a dream that his parents and brothers were bowing down to him. He would rule over them, according to the dream. The brothers were not happy about Joseph's dream. The were jealous of Joseph because of his dreams and the fact that his father made him a coat of many colors.
Joseph's father sent Joseph to check on his brothers one day, while they were taking care of the sheep. The brothers decided together to try to get rid of Joseph. One of the older brothers suggested that they throw him into a pit and leave him there, rather than murdering him. They left him there and Joseph was sold to some Midianite traders. The Midianite traders sold Joseph to a man named Potiphar, who was one of Pharoah's officers in Egypt.
After Joseph was taken by the Midianite traders, the brothers took his coat and killed an animal and then dipped the coat into the blood of the animal to make it look like Joseph was eaten by the animal. They told Joseph's father that Joseph was killed by a wild beast.
Joseph gained favor while in Egypt. Potiphar was impressed with him and made Joseph head of all his possessions. One day though, Potiphar's wife wanted to get Joseph into trouble, so she made up a fanciful story and as a result, Joseph was thrown into prison. His job, while he was in prison, was to be in charge of all the prisoners. He still had dreams and he dreamt about what was going to happen to the baker and the butler, and his dreams came to pass. But he still had to be in prison for a period of time.
The time period for this event was around 1898 B.C.

True History - Veritas Card #14 - Jacob and Esau
Jacob and Esau Genesis 25:19-34; 27:1-47
Isaac and Rebekah were married, and for a while, they weren't able to have any children. But one day, Rebekah got pregnant and this time there were two baby boys inside of her. The Lord told Rebekah that there were two nations inside her. He also told her that the older one would serve the younger one.
As the boys were being born, the first one was red, and he was named Esau. The second one to be born was Jacob. As Jacob was being born, he was grabbing onto Esau's heel. His name was Jacob, which means 'grabber.'
Back in those days, the oldest son held the birthright. It entitled him to the largest share of his father's estate. Esau grew up to become a skilled hunter. One day, after hunting, Esau came in extremely hungry. He wanted Jacob to make him some soup. Jacob agreed, but he would do it in exchange for the birthright, that rightfully belonged to Esau. So Esau was able to eat a meal, but now his birthright was no longer his. He sold his birthright for a pot of soup! That was not a wise thing to do!
Even though Esau lost his birthright, Isaac still wanted him to have it. He wanted to give Esau his blessing before he died. While Esau was out hunting, Jacob decided to cover his hands and feet with goat hair, so that Isaac would think that Jacob was Esau! At this time, Isaac was old and blind. When it was time to go in for the blessing, Jacob tricked Isaac and told him that he was Esau! Isaac wanted him to come closer and he felt the hairy arms and assumed it really was Esau. Isaac, after being convinced that Jacob really was Esau, gave him the blessing that was intended for Esau. Not only did Jacob steal Esau's birthright, but now he also stole his blessing! How do you think Esau felt by now?

True History - Veritas Card #13 - Isaac and Rebekah
Isaac and Rebekah Genesis 24
The time period was around 2026 B.C. Isaac was now a grown up man, and Abraham wanted to find a wife for him to have. It would have been a bad thing for Isaac to marry a Canaanite woman, so Abraham sent one of his servants on a journey to see if he could find a wife for Isaac. Abraham sent the servant to a place called Ur, which was the place Abraham used to live! The servant wasn't sure what he would find there, so he prayed and asked God for a sign. He was going to wait at a spring and ask some of the girls to give him some water. If they offered to water his camels, then he would know that this was the sign God would give him to know that this was where the girl would be that would become Isaac's wife. A beautiful girl named Rebekah came out. He then asked her for a drink of water. She offered to give water to his camels also. It looked like God had answered his prayers! Rebekah was actually one of Isaac's cousins. In the olden days, it was not uncommon for cousins to marry each other! The next day, Rebekah left with the servant and later met Isaac and they married.

Birth and Sacrifice of Isaac Genesis 21-22
Abraham and Sarah had their little baby boy, Isaac. Abraham was around 100 years old, and Sarah was at least 90 years old. God was faithful to them in keeping His promise. God was going to make a great nation with Isaac. He didn't need Abraham and Sarah's help in trying to make the promise come true. With God all things are possible, even having a baby at 90 years of age.
When Isaac got older, God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac on an altar. Abraham obeyed God and both Abraham and Isaac went up to Mount Moriah for the sacrifice to be made. Abraham tied Isaac on the altar that they had built. An angel of the Lord appeared and told him not to sacrifice Isaac. God was pleased with the faith that Abraham exhibited. God provided a ram instead to be sacrificed on the altar.
Abraham trusted God and God was pleased with his faith.

True History - My Thoughts on the Past in Teaching History
Since I have taught History either to my own children or through a co op for the past 25 years, I have decided that the part of History that is my favorite is the Middle Ages. I even have a castle I can set up in my home and the grandchildren can play with it, when they are old enough. What was God doing in the Middle Ages? What were the deceptions of Satan? What lies were people believing during this time period? Church History is fascinating. Study the Church Fathers and find out what they were up against. Every century seemed to have some kind of Satanic attack against the church, whether it be the deity of Christ, or Salvation by faith alone. What is your favorite time period in History?

After centuries of dormancy, Mount Vesuvius erupts in southern Italy, devastating the prosperous Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum and killing thousands. The cities, buried under a thick layer of volcanic material and mud, were never rebuilt and largely forgotten in the course of history. In the 18th century, Pompeii and Herculaneum were rediscovered and excavated, providing an unprecedented archaeological record of the everyday life of an ancient civilization, startlingly preserved in sudden death.

True History - Veritas Card #11 - Sodom and Gomorrah
Sodom and Gomorrah Genesis 18-19
After Abraham and Lot, who was Abraham's nephew, came to the land that God led them to, there were a lot of people between the two groups, so Lot and Abraham went different ways. Lot and his family ended up living in a place called "Sodom". The problem with living in Sodom was that the people were openly sinful and unrepentant. God's judgment was about to come upon the people that lived in this land. In order for Lot and his family to be safe, God warned Lot by means of some angels who told Lot to take his family and flee out of the land.
Abraham was pleading with God to save the cities, if He would find some righteous men who lived there. God found one person who was righteous and that was Lot.
The day came for God to judge the land. Lot took his wife and two daughters out of the land. On the way out, Lot's wife looked back. She must have had a hard time leaving, and because she looked back, she became a pillar of salt! The cities were burning down now and Lot was able to get away.
When God calls us out of sin, we cannot look back. We have to be focused and look forward so that we can keep going in God's direction.

True History - Catastrophic Plate Tectonics - Possible Flood Explanation
Almost all public education schools teach today that the earth is billions of years old. The reason they teach this is because it is a plausible explanation for evolution. If evolution is true (and we know it is only a theory), it would require billions of years or more for it to take place. If the world is only six thousand years old, than evolution would be not be valid. Of course, we can't just make up what we want to believe. Evolution is either true or it is a lie. The earth is either billions of years old or it isn't. Despite some new famous, and I might add 'wishful thinking', quotes, evolution has not been proven. It is still only a theory. It is taught in schools as if it were a fact. On top of that, there are other 'theories' that are put out that would make evolution make sense. We are taught this framework and will probably accept these things as facts, unless we know better.
But is there another explanation for the things we see today? Could it be that rock formations were really formed by water covering the earth quickly? How did the continents get here? Here is a web page that gives another explanation of how the continents were formed. Keep in mind that the surface of the earth looked different after the flood than it did before the days of Noah. We don't have to believe everything we hear from the media, government, or school system as proven fact, just because people who are authority figures say them. There are other possibilities as well. Remember, no one living today was present at the beginning of time, but we do have what was written in Scriptures, recorded for us to see.

True History - Veritas Card #10 - Hagar and Ishmael
Hagar and Ishmael - Genesis 16, 21
Remember the promise God made to Abram, whose name was changed to 'Abraham'? God told Abraham that he would be the father of many nations. He would also be the father to one particular nation. God had made this promise to Abraham when he was an old man. Abraham trusted and believed God. He knew God would keep His promise to him. But since Abraham was an old man, and Sarai, whose name was now 'Sarah', was an old woman, they would not be able to have children. They might not have ever seen God do a miracle before, but He was about to do a big miracle for them.
In the meantime, there were obviously times of doubting what God was saying, or maybe, perhaps they just didn't understand how God would work this out. Instead of waiting on God, and doing what He was telling them to do, they decided that God must be going to work out this problem in a simple way. Sarah decided to give her handmaid, Hagar, to be his wife for a short time. Maybe Hagar would get pregnant and have a child that would be able to have more children when he grew up and that would be where all these nations would come from. Well, Abraham did live like he was married to Hagar for a little while, and she did get pregnant and had a baby boy. His name was Ishmael.
Sarah was not happy though. She dealt harshly with Hagar. Hagar ran away and was very sad, when an angel of the Lord came to her and told her to go back to Abraham and Sarah's house. God would protect her and she would have descendants.
Some time later, when Sarah was ninety years old, she gave birth to a little boy also. His name was Isaac, which means laughter. A couple of years later, there was a celebration because Isaac was being weaned. At this celebration, Hagar was making fun of Sarah and Isaac, and Sarah made her leave. Hagar and Ishmael lived in the wilderness of Beersheba.
Hagar was sure they were going to die in the wilderness. She cried out and prayed to God, and God heard her prayer. He promised to take care of them. Ishmael would become a great nation also. The modern day Arabs probably came from Ishmael.

True History - After The Flood - Cooper
Here is a book that is recommended by Diana Waring called "After the Flood" by Bill Cooper. It is now in public domain, and the book itself is out of print.
http://www.ldolphin.org/cooper/contents.html
Here is an excerpt from a reviewer on Amazon:
"If you actually read this book, Bill Cooper in his introduction sets out to use sources other than the Bible to prove or disprove whether the geneologies listed in Genesis are accurate. Will Genesis hold up to this scrutiny? He traces the lineage of the Irish, Brits, Germanics etc through back to Japheth using historical documents that are well known to be accurate by archeologists and historians. He's spent 25+ years of research investigating this and has everything well documented.
He is very well spoken in his writing which makes for an extremely interesting and fact filled read. I recommend this to any Christian interested in solidifying the authority of the Genesis account of history...and to anyone who questions whether Genesis is just ancient mythology. "

I actually love having resources outside of the Bible to confirm what the Bible says. And here is a book that has been written by such a researcher.

True History - Veritas Card #9 - God's Covenant with Abraham
God's Covenant with Abraham - Genesis 15-17
The time period for this was around 2082 B.C. God had made a promise to Abraham that he would be the Father of many nations. From his offspring, God was going to make a great nation. There was a problem that had to be worked out though. Abraham was a very old man when God told him this. His wife was too old to have children now, and she was never able to have children in her younger years. God, in His sovereignty and wisdom did not allow them to have children when they were at the age that people bore children. So, God had made a promise and now would have to somehow fulfill it in a way the Abraham and Sarai could not even imagine!
God told Abraham that his descendants would be so many that they would outnumber the stars in the sky. Abraham did not have any land of his own, but God promised that his descendants would rule a large area of land. It would be interesting to see what God was going to do.
God performed a special ceremony to confirm his promise to Abraham. Abraham took some animals and cut them in half. Then he fell into a deep sleep. Then the Lord came down to visit this in the form of a smoking oven and a torch. He walked between the dead animal parts.
This was the way covenants were made. It was as if people were saying that what happened to the dead animals would happen to them if they broke their promise.
It was a long time before God's promise to Abraham came to pass.

True History - Veritas Card #8 - Call of Abram
Call of Abram Genesis 12 and 13
There was a man, a descendent of Noah, named Abram. Abram's wife was named Sarai. They were unable to have children.
God told Abram to leave his home land, Ur, in Mesopotamia, to go to the place where God would direct him to. God was going to bless him and a great nation would come from him. So, Abram and Sarai, along with Abram's nephew, Lot, went away on a journey that would take them to a place that they had never been before. They believed God would take care of them, and they trusted in Him. The land that they went to, was the land that God would give to Abram and his descendants.
God had now divided the world into nations, something that had not happened before. He favored a particular nation. Abram would be the Father of this nation, even though he had no children up to this point. We will see later how God blessed Abram and Sarai when they lived in this new land.

Today in History -1590 - Roanoke Colony Deserted
John White, the governor of the Roanoke Island colony in present-day North Carolina, returns from a supply-trip to England to find the settlement deserted. White and his men found no trace of the 100 or so colonists he left behind, and there was no sign of violence. Among the missing were Ellinor Dare, White's daughter; and Virginia Dare, White's granddaughter and the first English child born in America. August 18 was to have been Virginia's third birthday. The only clue to their mysterious disappearance was the word "CROATOAN" carved into the palisade that had been built around the settlement. White took the letters to mean that the colonists had moved to Croatoan Island, some 50 miles away, but a later search of the island found none of the settlers

True History- Veritas Card #7- Tower of Babel
Tower of Babel - Genesis 11
After the flood was over, people began to repopulate the earth again. People who lived in an area called "Babel" decided that they would unite together and build a tall structure that would reach to heaven! At this time, all people spoke the same language. They were very proud and thought they could be independent of God. After this tower was built, God came down and caused the people to be scattered throughout the earth, plus now these people were speaking different languages.
It is possible that the tower that they built is the zigguarat of Marduk at Babylon. It stands around 300 feet high. Babylon was located in Mesopotamia. You can find more information at this web site: http://www.christiananswers.net/dictionary/mesopotamia.html

True History- Veritas Card #6- God's Covenant with Noah
God's Covenant with Noah - Genesis 9:1-17
Yesterday we covered Noah's Ark and God's judgment upon the world because of sin. After the deluge was finished, and Noah and his family had left the ark, God made a promise that He would never destroy the earth with a flood again.
God made other promises that are recorded in the Old Testament. He made them with Abraham, Moses and David. God's promise is called a covenant. The first covenant God made with a man, as recorded in the Bible, is the one He made with Noah. God made this promise for Noah, and all who would come after him. This promise extended throughout history, even to this generation.
Have you ever seen a rainbow? The rainbow is a sign of God's promise to people that He will never again destroy the earth with a flood. When we see a rainbow, we are reminded of the promise that God made to mankind, that He will never destroy the world again in that manner. We can trust God because He is trustworthy. He will never break a promise.

True History-Veritas Card #5-The Flood
The Flood- Genesis 6-9
We saw that the first murder took place when Cain killed Abel, now that sin had entered the world. By the time we get to Genesis 6, man's wickedness had increased so much. Men were even devising new ways of sinning. Mankind was now out of control. God had to intervene. He had no choice but to destroy mankind. He was grieved because of the wickedness of the people He created.
One man found favor in God's sight and he was spared from God's judgment. God was going to send a worldwide flood that would destroy every person on the earth, unless they were in the ark of safety. God told Noah to build an ark and he was to take a male and female animal of each species on the ark. Also, his family went on the ark. So Noah, his family, and animals were on the ark, and God caused it to rain for forty days and nights. The entire earth was covered with water. Every living thing was destroyed.
When the flood was over, God made a promise that He would never again destroy the world by a flood. He gave a sign of His covenant, a rainbow, along with the promise. The next time God will judge the earth, it will be with fire.
You can see a replica of Noah's ark at the Creation Museum in Kentucky. http://creationmuseum.org/whats-here/exhibits/
An interesting side note: As I was looking through the search to find the url for the Creation Museum, I noticed quite a few reviews on the Creation Museum from the major media organizations, and interestingly, there were a few negative reactions that I saw. It is amazing that when truth is put forth, out in the open, the Enemy is not happy. We will see more and more criticism as time goes on. More and more made up stories to fit unhappy agendas. It always begs the question, "Who is behind the media, anyway?"

On this day in 1780, American Lieutenant Colonel Francis Marion, the "Swamp Fox," and his irregular cavalry force of 250 rout a party of Loyalists commanded by Major Micajah Gainey at Port's Ferry, South Carolina. Meanwhile, General Horatio Gates' men consumed half-baked bread, which sickened them overnight and contributed to their disastrous performance at the Battle of Camden, also in South Carolina, the following day.

True History-Veritas Card #4- Enoch and Methuselah
Enoch and Methuselah Genesis 5:21-32
After the murder of Abel, by his brother Cain, Adam and Eve had another son. They named him 'Seth'. Seth was faithful to the Lord his God and his descendants also followed after the Lord. Enoch was the seventh generation from Adam through Seth's line. Enoch was a great example of godliness and the Bible says that He walked with God. Enoch was not perfect or without sin, but he was faithful to God all the days of his life. The Lord was pleased with Enoch, and He did not let Enoch see death, but took him away to heaven one day.
Enoch was the seventh generation from Adam through Seth's line and Lamech was the seventh generation from Adam, through Cain's line. Enoch's line through Seth was made up of people who were righteous and faithful to God, whereas Lamech's line through Cain was made up of people who were wicked and rebellious toward God. The number seven in the Bible represents completeness many times.
Enoch had a son named Methuselah. Methuselah lived longer than any other person recorded in the Bible. It was not unusual for people to live two or three hundred years, but Methuselah beat them all by living to be 969 years. He was the grandfather of Noah, who built the ark because God was going to judge the world by sending a great deluge. This event is recorded in Genesis 6.
For those who want to follow along, I am using the Veritas History Cards. I am using Old Testament and Ancient Egypt.

True History-Veritas Card #3-Cain and Abel
Cain and Abel Genesis 4
Cain and Abel were children of Adam and Eve. Once sin entered into the world, people were affected by it. People were now sinners and sinning against others. Everyone was affected in a bad way. Sin makes everything ugly.
Cain was the first baby born. He was a gift from God to Adam and Eve. Another son God gave to Adam and Eve was named Abel. Both Cain and Abel brought sacrifices to God. Cain brought fruit. Abel brought the firstborn of his flock. God was pleased and accepted Abel's offering. He was not pleased with Cain's offering though. Cain became jealous and then angry. His anger led him to murder his brother. God cursed Cain by making him unable to grow crops. He also became a vagabond and wanderer.
Sin always has its consequences, either now or in eternity. Our hope is always in the Cross of Christ for our sin.

True History-Veritas Card #2-The Fall in the Garden
The Fall in the Garden from Genesis 3
The Lord told Adam that he could eat of any tree in the garden, but he was not allowed to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. He would 'surely die' if he ate from it. Satan came disguised as a serpent and spoke to Eve and gave her reasons why she should eat from this tree. Satan tricked Eve into eating the fruit and she disobeyed God as she ate it. She gave some of the fruit to Adam and he ate it as well. Satan told her that she would be 'like God' if she ate. He led her to believe that God was not to be trusted. In fact, one of his questions was phrased as 'Did God really say?' That is interesting because today people are still asking that same question. Satan is putting that question to use today. Are we going to listen to him?
The disobedience of Adam had serious consequences for human beings. Every person who has been born ever since that time has been born in sin. Not only that, but God also cursed the earth. We live in a fallen state now that sin is here. All of us are guilty before God now.
Even though Adam sinned in this way, God promised to send a 'seed' that would crush Satan and his kingdom. That promise was fulfilled when Jesus Christ came to earth, lived a perfect life, and died a terrible death to pay for our sins. This happened 2000 years ago. Jesus was buried and on the third day he arose from the grave. He is alive today. He is the seed that would crush the serpent's head. Now we can be free from sin and live a holy life before a holy God, if we repent of our sin, and trust in Him.

The Beginning
I am planning on using the Veritas curriculum cards in order starting with the first card. The earliest known event that was recorded was about creation. God has always existed. In the beginning, God created the world and all that is in it in six days. On the seventh day, God rested. Here is the order of His creation:

2. Heaven and earth
3. Seas and land
4. Sun, moon, and stars
5. Creatures of the sky and sea
6. Creatures of the day land and man
7. God rested on the seventh day.
These events took place the first week of creation. You can order the cards from Veritas Press, www.veritaspress.com
Keep in mind, God is uncreated. He never had a beginning and has always been in existence.

True History-Facts about Ancient Egypt
Egypt is one of the countries in Africa and the Middle East. The ancient name for Egypt is Kemet meaning 'black land'. It had obtained its name owing to the fertile black soil found on the plains of the Nile river which flows through Egypt. Egypt is also known for its historical monuments like the Giza pyramid complex and even the Egyptian civilization holds a lot of importance. True History-Socialism out of the mouth of Norman Mattoon Thomas
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be socialist nation without knowing how it happened." -Norman Mattoon Thomas (socialist party candidate, 1944)
My thoughts: Progressivism = Liberalism; Liberalism = Socialism; Socialism = Communism; therefore, Progressivism = Communism. Are you ready for being a Socialistic society? God can still work! We can still pray. We need to be diligent to pray.

True History- Great Wall of China-http://www.history.com/topics/great-wall-of-china
Here is an excerpt from www.history.com on the Great Wall of China.
Perhaps the most recognizable symbol of China and its long and vivid history, the Great Wall of China actually consists of numerous walls and fortifications, many running parallel to each other. Originally conceived by Emperor Qin Shi Huang (c. 259-210 B.C.) in the third century B.C. as a means of preventing incursions from barbarian nomads into the Chinese Empire, the wall is one of the most extensive construction projects ever completed. The best-known and best-preserved section of the Great Wall was built in the 14th through 17th centuries A.D., during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Though the Great Wall never effectively prevented invaders from entering China, it came to function more as a psychological barrier between Chinese civilization and the world, and remains a powerful symbol of the country's enduring strength.
