Unification of Upper and Lower Egypt by Pharaoh Menes
We are going to go back into time, back to the time before Moses was in Egypt. In Ancient Egypt, the first known Pharaoh that is known, is Pharaoh Menes. Pharaoh Menes was also known as Narmer. When he was fifteen years old, he was a warrior and kind. He conquered Lower Egypt as he marched north, down the Nile. Then he built a capital city that was called, 'Memphis'. Pharaoh Menes was the first Pharaoh to rule both the Upper and Lower Egypt.
Pharaoh Menes wore both a red crown and a white crown (which made a double crown). The white crown represented Upper Egypt, and the Red crown represented Lower Egypt. He wore the double crown because he ruled both kingdoms.
