The Exodus - Exodus 13-15
We just learned about the 'Passover' which was when the Death Angel passed over the houses in Egypt and killed the first born in every house that did not have the blood of a Lamb on the doorposts. This was the tenth plague that happened to the Egyptians because of Pharaoh's stubborn heart. He was not willing to let the Israelites go and worship God in the wilderness.
After this incident, which left a person in each Egyptian household dead, the Pharaoh told the Israelites to leave and go quickly. So the Israelites prepared to leave Egypt finally. While they were camped at the Red Sea, Pharaoh changed his mind again and set out to capture the Israelites to bring them back into Egypt. The Israelites panicked as they saw the Egyptians coming after them, while they were facing a large body of water called the 'Red Sea'. How could they get past this body of water and escape the Egyptians? God provided help for them by parting the waters so they could walk across on dry land! As soon as the Egyptians tried to catch up to them, the waters came back together and covered all of them and they all drowned. The Israelites were now on dry land on the other side and were safe.
All this took place around 1446 B.C.
