The Genealogy of David - 1 Chronicles 2
About 1041 years before the birth of Christ, a man named David was born. This was significant because David was of the tribe of Judah. Judah's tribe had the best reputation for being the strongest militarily and spiritually. Here is how this family line came to be; Judah was the father of Perez, who was the father of Hezron. Hezron was the father of Ram, who was the father of Amminadab. Amminadab was the father of Nashon, who was the father of Salmon (not the fish). Salmon fathered Boaz, who was married to Ruth (see veritas card on Naomi). They had a son named Obed, who was the father of Jesse. Jesse had eight sons. Out of those sons, David was the youngest.
David was a man who was after God's heart. He also wrote many of the Psalms. Many of his activities are written in the historical books of the Old Testament.
Remember that Jacob's twelve sons became the twelve tribes of Israel. God had been faithful to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. God raised up the nation of Israel from Abraham.
